Wednesday Oracle

Today’s oracle is the Celtic Messages Oracle. I drew #20, the Hill, which says “Perspective” across the bottom. Give it a click to see a larger scan.

2009 10-14 Wednesday OracleThe card is a reminder to stand up and away from the situation that you are currently in and give yourself some bird’s eye perspective if you can. Observe things from outside of the situation, and make an unbiased and informed choice. This is something that I need reminding of now and again. I tend to compare myself to others, even if they have more experience, or expect things to happen overnight. Obviously, overnight is rarely the case. Perspective. Good.

The deck that I used today is the Celtic Messages Oracle. It is available on Amazon for a great price, and it seems to be a deck well worth the money. You may also want to consider The Book of Celtic Symbols: Symbols, Stories & Blessings for Everyday Living from the same author. Every purchase you make from Amazon after clicking a link in this blog will benefit Reading the Cards, so thank you very much.

Wednesday Oracle

Today’s oracle reading is done with the Affirmations for the Everyday Goddess deck. It is a major arcana only deck that seems like it was designed to be used like an oracle. Each card has the traditional major as well as an affirmation saying on the bottom. Today I drew The World. Click on the card for a larger scan.

2009 10-07 Wednesday OracleThe saying on the card is “I am one with God.” It seems pretty obvious to me what the deck is trying to tell me. I am having a hard time getting started on my to-do list for today. The card is simply telling me that I can handle it.

I have a set of Goddess cards with beautiful paintings on the front and information about each Goddess on the back. I draw them often, especially when I feel as if I need guidance in a situation or help to get through a tough time. Today I drew for meditation purposes, and got Rhiannon. Wednesday Oracle

So… this is a surprise. The same card came up for me again for the second time in a row, despite the fact that I shuffle and mix the cards pretty well. Today’s oracle draw: Maiden Moon. Again.

2009 08-26 Wednesday OracleThe last time she came up, it was in reference to the fact that I was starting my diet, and timing was all important. If she’s coming up again, it makes me wonder if it is because I have missed something, or if it is because, like the moon, things are progressing, waxing, waning, and changing. Today we are really close to the full moon, which is a good time to examine all of the things that we have drawn to ourselves and appreciate them.

Like the moon, my body was full. I’m not morbidly obese, or even all that overweight according to most people, but my body fat percentage is not where I wanted it, and I am working hard to change it. I think this card may be telling me to keep an eye over my shoulder like the woman on the card, remembering where I was at my worst so that I can appreciate myself as I change. To that end, I have been having my husband take a weekly photo of me, sort of like a time lapse thing. I feel almost as if the deck is wishing me luck.

Wednesday Oracle

Today I drew the Maiden Moon for my oracle, and I sort of had to laugh at the irony of her timing. In fact, this card is all about timing. The Maiden is letting me know that there is a right time for everything, and directs me to pay attention to the phases of the moon to calculate that timing. Click on her for the larger scan.

2009 08-26 Wednesday OracleThe reason I thought she was so funny today is that I started my first ever diet today, and did pretty good, too. The book specifically mentions diets in timing, and says that the waxing moon (which this is), is not the best time to start because it is about increasing. I thought about that for a while, but I AM increasing things in my life with this diet. My attention to my health, my self control, my energy levels, my activity levels… all increasing, or so I hope.

This is a great lesson to take away. Instead of focusing on what I can’t have or what is going out of my life, I need to focus on what I am INCREASING through these actions. Presto! It gets easier. 🙂 Sounds like a plan to me.

Wednesday Oracle

I decided to stick to the Enchanted oracle again this week, and drew Serenity. Click on the card for a larger scan.

2009 08-19 Wednesday Oracle I absolutely love the colors in this card, and the way that she is standing, absolutely relaxed and peaceful. I don’t think the card is a big mystery for me today. Just that I should relax, let things happen as they will, and work on allowing some peace into my day.

Wednesday Oracle

I wanted to do something a little different and offer you an oracle card for today! I have been having a really hard time the past few days, and have pretty much stayed away from anything that might be creative in any way, including my cards, but last night I was feeling ready to challenge myself again. I drew the Tattered Dreams card from the Enchanted Oracle. I read it for myself, thought about it for a few moments, and then decided that I was tired and put it back in the deck. This morning I shuffled the cards pretty well, asked what message the deck had for me… and drew Tattered Dreams again! Click on her to see a larger scan.

2009 08-12 Wednesday OracleThe Tattered Dreams card is just how it sounds, but like many Tarot cards, it is more, too. The faerie in this picture is a bit broken down and tired. Her gloves and wings are ragged, spider webs grace the room… But her spinning wheel still appears whole and ready to work, and she has a beautiful butterfly resting on her hand just waiting for her to open her eyes and notice.

While I have been going through a time in my life that has left me about as shredded as this faerie and as tired of life, there is plenty of beauty left in the world when I am ready to look for it again, and I think it is time for me to listen to the card, gather up my shredded pieces and get back on with it.

All this means, for me, is that the path is not going to be easy; there is no saying no to someone who is always willing to pick themselves up and carry on.
